I am a photographer, a visual storyteller, a photojournalist. After 20 years as a staff photographer at the Hartford Courant, I now run Shana Sureck Photography, with studios in Hartford, CT and Florence (Northampton), MA. I care about the lives, the beliefs, and the work of people, organizations, and non-profits that make a difference in the world. Increasingly, I am incorporating audio and video into my projects, with the added richness that multimedia brings to stories. On the weekends, I turn my cameras to more personal life celebrations – weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteens – that mark in joyful, sacred ways, important turning points that have meaning in our lives. To say nothing of the awesome parties!!!
