About

I'm a freelance photographer in the Twin Cities. As a former newspaper photographer (Hartford Courant, San Jose Mercury News, Minneapolis Star Tribune), photojournalism is the the style of photography I really love. I'm ready and willing to shoot a variety of assignments, ranging from portraits to sports, important news events to day-to-day life. I even shoot an occasional wedding. I've been adding audio to my projects for the past ten years, to capture natural sound as well as interviews. My favorite project - following the University of MN medical school class of 2004 for their four years of training to become doctors in still photos with audio. I'm now getting into video too.

Aspirations

I love audio and have for years, before newspapers and magazines had websites, before it was even considered relevant for still photographers. The minute sound became available to newspaper photographers , I jumped on it, producing a four year project following a medical school class. My goal is to eventually , and not too far in the future, hone my video skills to that same level, so that I can produce multimedia projects using stills, video and audio. Certain projects are best for stills and audio, some for video and some works well combing all three. It's so much fun to take all that documentary information and edit it into a wonderful piece that really allows the viewer to feel as if they were right there with you when you shot it.
