Bio / Resume
I began my photographic career in 1985 freelancing and working part-time for a small local paper in my hometown of Bristol, CT. Since then I have been a staff photographer at The Hartford Courant newspaper since 1999.
Prior to becoming a photojournalist I worked for a manufacturing company where I was a service technician traveling and installing automated machinery. This work provided me with a technical background that I continue to draw upon for lighting and exposure of portraits, photo illustration in and out of the studio, and computer skills.
Sports photography grabbed my attention when I was a teenager and is what caused me to pick up a camera in the first place. I froze my tail off covering the Professional Ski Tour in New England and made my first professional sale to a ski boot manufacturer that went world wide as a double truck in trade and consumer magazines. From there I attended Tunxis Community College taking classes in photography, graphic design and business.
I continue to grow as a photographer each day through the people I work with and those I meet on assignment. I live with my wife, Shelley, and our dog Bella in our hometown of Bristol.
